Coming: Likely our first change in the 'Catching Fire' portfolio

Catching Fire : Amazon and Netflix

The first public stock portfolio started  in May, 2013 using a price action strategy. After six months it had a gain of $11,010 with an annualized rate of return of 29.70.
That was the warm up. Now the real 'game' begins soon!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Winning is grabbing momentum, profiting from it and then releasing it

my strategy is only for those who are strong enough to withstand occasional pain. I care not for the weak to follow me. I have no interest in getting all my picks right. I am more concern about getting an overall profit. As such, in trading Safety for High risk High reward, one gets big winners that overcome a few losses

A winner must be willing to  embrace change and  welcome challenge. The biggest “fear,” if there is  one, is not of the unknown, but of becoming complacent and stagnant. An environment of change and even uncertainty can energize a mentally strong person and bring out their best.

A winner is willing to take calculated risks. This is a different thing entirely than jumping headlong into foolish risks. But with mental strength, an individual can weigh the risks and benefits thoroughly, and will fully assess the potential downsides and even the worst-case scenarios before they take action

There is strength in acknowledging the past and especially in acknowledging the things learned from past experiences—but a winner needs to  invest the majority of their energy in creating an optimal present and future.

AZO (Autozone)

AZO has had a remarkable run. While people were holding on to their autos the last few years, customers focused on repairing old vehicles instead of buying new ones. Now the tide has changed. People are now out buying new cars hands over fist. As such, the question begs, will the buying of auto parts now level out?

''AutoZone is one of those rare companies that normally performs better at a time when the economy is not performing up to expectations."  All indications are that the economy is improving and will continue to improve.

In addition, AZO is getting strong competition, notably from O'Reilly and Advance Auto Parts.

At this point, it is likely that AZO will be removed from the 'Catching Fire' portfolio and allow a more deserving company with a better growth future replace AZO. It is under consideration.

9:45am  Another reason is the CEO of AZO. World class CEO's make up a large part of the companies in my "Catching Fire' portfolio - CEO's such as Hastings at NFLX, Iron Man Elon Musk at TSLA telsa, and of course Jeff Bezos (Mr Drone machine) over at the amazing AMZN. I have FAITH in those CEO's. However, the real power behind   Autozone is billionaire and 'Sears retail killer' Ronald Perelman. He just doesn't belong in the same group.

9:50am  TSLA down today yet holding up well considering yesterday's monster move.

TSLA Telsa
On the other hand, TSLA has defied the shorts and at this point, won over BigOil's smear campaign over the Telsa fire accidents. (TSLA caught fire and remains on fire) (Just had to get that in).  Iron Man is running the company towards total acceptance. The all electric car is here whether BigGovernment or BigOil likes it or not. The infrastructure is being build throughout the USA where one can re-charge the Telsa batteries for FREE or replace them quicker than filling up an fossil fuel driven automobile for the same cost of a gas fillup.  In addition, Telsa is working on a new wave of automobiles that will cost much less than the current edition. In addition, progress continues towards a battery that will run longer, much longer than the current edition. The automobile is already rated by two major sources as the best automobile ever made under 100,000.

Regarding the Catching Fire portfolio. My real account in part minics most but not all  of the same stocks at different buying prices and different quantities. I will say this, NFLX, TSLA, and of course AAPL are definitely three of the stocks in my real account.

One of the stocks that I bought today in my real account is not part of the 'catching fire' portfolio. I purchased MOS mosaic earlier today. As of this writing, MOS is at 48.10 but I bought it cheaper.

10:40am  CEO's.  It will be interesting to see how newbie CEO Darren Huston does over at Priceline PCLN. Huston replaces the legendary CEO Jeffery (one hundred bagger) Boyd, the acquisition king at PCLN. PCLN has a modest P/E below 35 but not sure where Huston will be taking it. However, with the improving economy, more not less bookings will occur.

Over on Stocktwits, said I bought YHOO  ..  bought it cheaper than 37.32 but that's the price at the time I made the comment.

------------------------------

I concluded the first public portfolio with daily  updates after six months of trading. In my opinion, it was highly successful as we utilized the ten guidelines I wrote (shown on the right of this website). I made over $11,000 profit which annualized at a rate of 29.70%.
 ,

                                                                                             Are you Catching Fire    ???
I plan on starting another public portfolio soon. There are a number of things learned from the strategy used the last six months which I will incorporate in the new public portfolio.
This site isn't all about the stock market. However, with the daily updating of the stock market, it took most of my time. I am still going to discuss  the stock market but also  going to relate more to other parts of this site - such as the paintings, my hobbies such as estate sale treasure hunting, movies, autos, etc.
I have developed a good following if the Blogger statistics I get are correct. It will be interesting to see how they change in the coming months. As stated, I will start a new public stock market portfolio. There's so technical issues to work out. One being displaying Options.
