The first public stock portfolio started  in May, 2013 using a price action strategy. After six months it had a gain of $11,010 with an annualized rate of return of 29.70.
That was the warm up. Now the real 'game' begins soon!

Winning is grabbing momentum, profiting from it and then releasing it

My strategy is only for those who are strong enough to withstand occasional pain. I care not for the weak to follow me. I have no interest in getting all my picks right. I am more concern about getting an overall profit. As such, in trading Safety for High risk High reward, one gets big winners that overcome a few losses

A winner must be willing to  embrace change and  welcome challenge. The biggest “fear,” if there is  one, is not of the unknown, but of becoming complacent and stagnant. An environment of change and even uncertainty can energize a mentally strong person and bring out their best.

A winner is willing to take calculated risks. This is a different thing entirely than jumping headlong into foolish risks. But with mental strength, an individual can weigh the risks and benefits thoroughly, and will fully assess the potential downsides and even the worst-case scenarios before they take action

There is strength in acknowledging the past and especially in acknowledging the things learned from past experiences—but a winner needs to  invest the majority of their energy in creating an optimal present and future.

Weekend
QCOR

Forbes Number 1 ranking small company is biotech company Questcor (QCOR). QCOR's stock ran up to 67 but now has dipped down to 52. One way to play QCOR and get a 20% gain is as follows.

Sell a Put option. Sell the 35 Jan 2015 put. At current prices, you will get $790.00 immediately and need to keep the monies allocated for the 35 Put in your account if purchased in a cash account. This provides you a 20% return on your money.  In my case the  money market return my broker provides on holding the monies will pay for the commission cost on the Put Option. In addition, I get the use of the $790 immediately for future investment opportunities.

The Matriculation Process

The word 'matriculation' means to 'gain' or to 'improve, get better'. Football coach Hank Stram used the word in the Super Bowl to  tell his players to 'keep gaining yards' or matriculate down the field. On wallstreet it is used by me to have your portfolio of stocks and equities to keep gaining, to keep improving and get better.

One of the mistakes made by those in the stock market is to be concerned over how many stock picks one gets right. That however is not your purpose. Your overall purpose is to make an overall profit within your portfolio of stocks. When one manages a portfolio, one matriculates the various entities in the portfolio to end up with a strong portfolio and overall gain. Hence, by weeding out the weaken performers, one might have a poor percentage of getting stock picks right but still have a winning and strong portfolio with the remaining picks.

The key for winning in the market place is to managed your portfolio by matriculating your portfolio and not be overly concerned with individual stocks picks. Those who keep score on their stock picks are just 'playing games'.

Actions performed last week

Replaced CELG and bought GM. Biotechs were hot earlier this year but has since cooled off. USA selling a lot of new automobiles. The industry is 'Catching Fire' and hence we now own GM.

As stated, the trade was finally made on AZO. I pulled out of AZO for the reasons stated on Wednesday and replaced it with YHOO. I actually bought YHOO in my real account the other day at a much lower price but am using the price as of the trade time with AZO. AZO is out, YHOO is in.

Regarding the Catching Fire portfolio. My real account in part minics most but not all  of the same stocks at different buying prices and different quantities. I will say this, NFLX, TSLA, and of course AAPL are definitely three of the stocks in my real account.

I concluded the first public portfolio with daily  updates after six months of trading. In my opinion, it was highly successful as we utilized the ten guidelines I wrote (shown on the right of this website). I made over $11,000 profit which annualized at a rate of 29.70%.
 ,

                                                                                             Are you Catching Fire    ???
I plan on starting another public portfolio soon. There are a number of things learned from the strategy used the last six months which I will incorporate in the new public portfolio.
This site isn't all about the stock market. However, with the daily updating of the stock market, it took most of my time. I am still going to discuss  the stock market but also  going to relate more to other parts of this site - such as the paintings, my hobbies such as estate sale treasure hunting, movies, autos, etc.
I have developed a good following if the Blogger statistics I get are correct. It will be interesting to see how they change in the coming months. As stated, I will start a new public stock market portfolio. There's so technical issues to work out. One being displaying Options.
