Every week someone from the media and/or internet peanut gallery offers up a recommendation to short sell stocks such as Telsa (TSLA) .... and each week they end up baffled and dumbfounded as certain momentum stocks continue their upward mastery.
One week it's Netflix (NFLX), another week it's TSLA or Baidu (BIDU), another week it could be Facebook (FB). In the meantime folks who are long in these winners continue to rake it in ... and short sellers continue to feel pain and remorse. What side are you on?
Take the incredible, relentless advance of TSLA (Telsa motors) as an example. A few weeks ago, Gareth Soloway, the self proclaimed ' Chief Market Strategist' at the pay site, IntheMoneyStocks, and who brags that ' I can teach anyone to trade' wrote a blog about TSLA (Telsa). Feeling safe, he recommended short selling TSLA when it made a quick 10 point run from 125 to 135. Of course TSLA is now at 190! Gareth Soloway has now capitulated and is nowhere to be found at the site he wrote this article (Zack's People and Places).
The peanut gallery folks at highly regarded Alpha Seeker proclaimed that TSLA, providing a whole lot bunch of silly sophisticated statistics, when it's share price was 168, said this was unsustainable. Of course it is now 190.
Then there is the buffoonish Baron's publication, one of the world's worst predictors of stocks, headlined that TSLA (Telsa) was a easy short sell when it hit 100. Of course, TSLA is now at 190.
Even Wallstreet Cheat Sheet and the monkeys at the renowned Market Watch have hinted about shorting TSLA (Telsa). Of course TSLA is now 190.
Actually the best advice about TSLA (Telsa) came from the founder and CEO of TSLA and that is Elon Musk. He said and warned in Sept 2012 of a " 'tsunami of hurt' for short-sellers". In sept 2013 he again said ' it’s not as crazy, but I still think it’s probably not a good idea.”
One thing I want the short sellers to think about. In June 2010, PCLN (Priceline) was priced at 190. The pundits were calling it "a first rate short sell". It is now over 1,000
What side do you take ? the media/internet pundits or billionaire Elon (Tony Stark) Musk?

: Annualized rate of return calculation.
It is shown on the first and last page of the portfolio spreadsheet. It is based on an average portfolio cost basis of $80,000. More times than not I am below that amount. My rules as stated at the beginning of our blog site is that I will not have more than $100,000 at risk at any given time and no more than 12 equities in the portfolio.
My annualized return is based on a 365 year, the formula is provided by Google Drive spreadsheet software.
The rate will be calculated each day after market closing.

Price... follow the Price.. Money does and money flows to where money grows. I don't care about moving averages of any kind or flavor. I have no clue what oversold or overbought means nor do I care. Even volume numbers can be deceptive. I look at Price. Price is the result of the entire spectrum thoughts of those who are buying and selling stocks. Price is true. Price is honest. Price at any given time provides the result of anyone's and everyone's analysis, comments, posts, blogs, manipulations, media news, etc etc etc. I don't have the time or inclination to purchase an entity and see if it's a winner in 5 years. My preference is to find out in 5 minutes. I love to purchase a stock that hits a first time new high, whether the new high is a 52wk high, a yearly high, an all-time high ..because... the odds are that it's more than likely to continue to hit even more highs. The 'first new high' is likely to be the lowest high.
