Winning is grabbing momentum, profiting from it and then releasing it

My strategy is only for those who are strong enough to withstand occasional pain. I care not for the weak to follow me. I have no interest in getting all my picks right. I am more concern about getting an overall profit. As such, in trading Safety for High risk High reward, one gets big winners that overcome a few losses

A winner must be willing to  embrace change and  welcome challenge. The biggest “fear,” if there is  one, is not of the unknown, but of becoming complacent and stagnant. An environment of change and even uncertainty can energize a mentally strong person and bring out their best.

A winner is willing to take calculated risks. This is a different thing entirely than jumping headlong into foolish risks. But with mental strength, an individual can weigh the risks and benefits thoroughly, and will fully assess the potential downsides and even the worst-case scenarios before they take action

There is strength in acknowledging the past and especially in acknowledging the things learned from past experiences—but a winner needs to  invest the majority of their energy in creating an optimal present and future.

Our Cut on a number of Catching Fire stocks

AMZN.  Amazing Amazon hits the 400 share price high watermark.

Where does Bezos take it to in 2014? Company extremely innovative with shipping and now with expanding grocery deliveries. Company charter is to keep it in growth mode. The huge internet retailer wants to gain even more share market at the expense of store front retailers.

AMZN stock ended 2012 at 259 per share. It's at 402 this weekend, more than an 50% increase.  I expect AMZN's earnings report in Jan 2014  to be strong. I expect additional innovative announcements in 2014 with Amazon Prime. I'm not making a predication but will not be surprising or  difficult to see AMZN at 600 sometime in 2014 if the market remains in decent bullish mode in 2014.
AMZN isn't a stock a fundamentalist would like. It doesn't make money but it's stock has gone up 650% in the last six years. This is a growth play.
---------

TSLA  Telsa
Whenever a Telsa auto catches on fire, the driver safely gets out of the car and goes down and buys another telsa. When any other car catches on fire, the driver is buried six feet under!

Currently Telsa all-electric autos are on backorder even through they cost from 70k to 90k. CEO Elon Musk, a billionaire akin to the Iron Man character Tony Stark, is as much of a reason to have faith in this business as the Telsa product itself.

Telsa is currently building an infra-structure network across  the USA where a Telsa auto owner can recharge their auto batteries for free. If, instead,  in a hurry, can swap out the old batteries for a recharged set of batteries for about the price of a fossil fuel refill. The swap out takes quicker to do than refilling your fossil fuel car with fuel.

Telsa makes a profit. In 2012 it sold 2650 cars. In 2013, with introduction of the Europe market,  it'll be 21,500. In 2014 the China market opens up for Telsa electric autos.
Telsa will start development of  a lower price all-electric auto in 2014.
 ......

AAPL Apple. Apple's iphone deal with China Mobile has been finalized and the iphones will be sold by China Mobile and Apple starting Jan 17. China Mobile is the largest phone company in China and this is a huge market deal for AAPL.
oh yes...I forgot, iPAD is this holiday seasons' biggest seller.
.....
NFLX Netflix
Netflix keeps coming up and re-inventing itself. The one factual info we have is that NFLX is counting on Original Content to increase subscribership. NFLX appears to be pushing to hook up and be a set-up with Cable networks, a la web-based TV.
....

GOOG Google  PCLN Priceline

Google is always working on new product development and it doesn't have too. It can foster growth with it's existing Search engine, APPS, and Android. GOOG also has google glass in the works along with Google fiber. On top of that, it has only a P/E of 29 and a future P/E of 20. I can see GOOG hitting 1500 and doing it before PCLN which will also  get there.
....
Disney DIS
Disney hit an all-time high Friday.

One of the mistakes made by those in the stock market is to be concerned over how many stock picks one gets right. That however is not your purpose. Your overall purpose is to make an overall profit within your portfolio of stocks. When one manages a portfolio, one matriculates the various entities in the portfolio to end up with a strong portfolio and overall gain. Hence, by weeding out the weaken performers, one might have a poor percentage of getting stock picks right but still have a winning and strong portfolio with the remaining picks.

The key for winning in the market place is to managed your portfolio by matriculating your portfolio and not be overly concerned with individual stocks picks. Those who keep score on their stock picks are just 'playing games'.

Regarding the Catching Fire portfolio. My real account in part mimics most but not all  of the same stocks at different buying prices and different quantities. I will say this, NFLX, TSLA, and of course AAPL are definitely three of the stocks in my real account.

 ,

Are you going after the big fish?
This site isn't all about the stock market. However, with the daily updating of the stock market, it took most of my time. I am still going to discuss  the stock market but also  going to relate more to other parts of this site - such as the paintings, my hobbies such as estate sale treasure hunting, movies, autos, etc.
I have developed a good following if the Blogger statistics I get are correct. It will be interesting to see how they change in the coming months. As stated, I will start a new public stock market portfolio. There's so technical issues to work out. One being displaying Options.
